The following is a list of methods seminars and workshops in chronological order. This list includes training opportunities in research methods offered by AcademyHealth at the National Health Policy Conference and the Annual Research Meeting. A description of methods seminars from the 2010 Annual Research Meeting is also available.

  • 83rd AHIMA Convention & Exhibit. October 1-6, 2011, Salt Lake City, UT
    The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) will bring professionals from all areas of health informatics and information management for a weeklong focus on health information management global transformation, "Reaching New Heights in Health Information."
       
  • International Conference on Health Policy Statistics. October 5-7, 2011, Cleveland, OH. Over the last 15 years, the International Conference on Health Policy Statistics (ICHPS), organized by the Health Policy Statistics Section of the American Statistical Association, has played a vital role in the dissemination process of health policy (and health services) statistics. ICHPS provides a unique forum for discussing research needs and solutions to the methodological challenges in the design of studies and analysis of data for health policy research.
         
  • AMIA 2011 Annual Symposium. October 22-26, 2011, Washington, DC.
    The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Annual Symposium is the primary forum for the presentation of research and development related to the structure and management of data, and the design, implementation and evaluation of information systems in the field of biomedical and health informatics. The 2011 AMIA Symposium theme is "Improving Health: Informatics and IT Changing the World."
         
  • AcademyHealth Health Policy Orientation Program. October 24-27, 2011, Washington, DC. AcademyHealth's three-and-a-half day fall orientation offers an in-depth introduction to the key players, formal and informal policymaking processes, and critical health policy issues. The program includes presentations by well-known experts, interactive panels and group discussions, hands-on tutorials, and a congressional site visit. The Orientation is organized with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics.
          
  • ASTHO Annual Meeting. October 19-21, 2011, Portland, OR. The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) Annual Meeting will focus on the needs of ASTHO’s newest members while providing ample networking opportunities for new and more tenured state public health leaders alike. Topics include, September 11th: 10 Years of Reflection, Preparedness Progress and Building Resilience, Federal and State Efforts to Coordinate and Integrate Public Health and Healthcare, and Public Health in HIE.
      
  • APHA 2011 Annual Meeting and Exposition. October 29 - November 2, 2011, Washington DC. The 139th American Public Health Association (APHA) Annual Meeting theme "Healthy Communities Promote Healthy Minds and Bodies" provides a platform for an in-depth look at efforts to improve the health of our communities.  The APHA Annual Meeting and Expo is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world. The meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues, in an effort to prevent disease and promote health.
